Friday!

I know it's been a bit quiet around here. It's funny because as I've started following my favorite blogs, when there is some silence, it usually means something else is going on. A move. Being newly pregnant. A new baby.

While none of these are true for me right now, I've rather suddenly decided to start my Etsy shop. It was now or never. I had been thinking about it for a few years but I finally now feel that I have the time and creative energy to devote to it all with M in school more. So about a month ago I started to look for a logo, think of a name, spent more time learning how to use my sewing machine and figuring out my designs. It all just kind of came together and I am super excited to get the shop open beginning of January.

Here is a little peak into some of the fabrics and bows/headbands that will be featured.

Here in London, I see a lot of pre-made grosgrain bows that I do not fancy much so I am hoping these handmade pretties will make a grand entrance. I love making them and really feel they are well made (serious perfectionist quality control over here!) featuring beautiful Liberty of London fabric. I'll take any excuse I can get to visit Liberty of London for shopping or fabric buying! I hope to soon be making bow ties too as I cannot forget about my boy-mom friends!

While waiting for the shop to open follow along on Instagram @maddieandmelondon!

I do not watch much television here in the UK but I do certainly miss watching Ellen every afternoon as she is one of my favorite people. My dad sent me a video a few weeks back and I had not realized she had started a campaign to get #elleonthetelly as her show is not currently broadcast in the UK. There have been 3 British guests on recently who have joined in the campaign and this one is my favourite!

Last year I saw the Kindness Elves on The Imagination Tree and we began the tradition as an alternative to Elf on the Shelf with our kindness mouse named Felicity. This year The Imagination Tree started selling the Kindness Elves so Felicity will be getting some new friends tomorrow in M's advent calendar. Looking forward to spreading some kindness cheer around London!

We took our holiday photos a while back and I am finally getting around to figuring out what to do with them. Our photographer Amy took some amazing shots that I absolutely adore. Here are two of my favorites. I just love these two captured in the perfect light in our favorite place, Hyde Park.

I've always been a SERIOUS sucker for a cupcake. I will not turn one down. So when our local Hummingbird Bakery comes out with some holiday flavors, you bet I'm in line to try them. Eggnog. Not so yummy. Gingerbread. Yes please! I will be trying all of their festive flavors.

Hope you have a lovely weekend! We are heading to see The Nutcracker, making our gingerbread house and hoping to see some friends going through London on their way to Africa for their honeymoon.

Brought to you by the lovely ladies behind: The Good Life, A. Liz Adventures, Carolina Charm & Hello! Happiness.

  2. Those photos are just perfect! Love them! Also, I love the concept of the kindness Elves. I am not a huge fan of the "Elf on the Shelf" concept, but this seems like an awesome idea! www.HannahAtHomeBlog.com
