Holiday-ing in the Maldives- Finale

Our last day on Kanuhura was the day before Valentine's Day so we celebrated like it was the Hallmark holiday that Davis may just consider his favorite holiday of the year. Ha!

Our day began with a little snorkeling.

On our way to the snorkeling site, we saw dolphins swimming together amongst a group of pilot whales. This was my first time seeing whales in the wild so I was pretty excited. We had to stay far from them as they are quite shy but you could tell they were whales as their heads were more round and they stayed at the surface longer than the dolphins. Our snorkeling guide said she had not seen pilot whales in about a year so it was pretty amazing that we saw such a large group of them.

I never could get over the beauty of the Maldives. Being surrounded by water like this is pretty unbelievable.

While we were snorkeling we saw numerous large and small sea turtles, incredible fish such as parrot fish, unicorn fish, napoleon fish, box fish and a manta ray. The water was a bit turbulent as there were large swells moving us up and down in the water. Lucky me had to retire a bit early and head back to the boat...a teeny tiny bit sea-sick. I'm that person who got seasick snorkeling. I'm laughing now but at the time it was not so fun.

Meanwhile back on shore...M was making pizza with the Kids Club. You see, one of the very reasons we chose Kanuhura was because Davis saw this Conde Nast article and read about Kanuhura's fantastic Kids Club. When you are traveling to destinations such as the Maldives with your kid(s) you may want a little time just the two of you. Davis and I were able to have 2 dinners and one morning away from M to enjoy the island on our own. And M got a little experience being dropped off at a fun place to play with kids of various ages for a while without mommy and daddy around.

Back on shore, we grabbed some tapas beach-side.

During M's nap Davis and I took turns at the spa and had amazing massages in Kanuhura's peaceful, tranquil spa.

After the spa we got ready for dinner and took some pictures on our final night on the island.

Then we dropped M off at Kids Club for the evening and headed over to grab the boat to Jehunuhura.

We had the entire island to ourselves for the night.

It was just us, the chef and the waiter.

Our very own dinner on our very own island. I'd say that's the way to spend the day before Valentine's Day.

We had an unbelievable dinner. Taking photos of food in the darkness it not something I do well so apologies in advance for these pictures.

We came home to this on our bed which M promptly took apart.

Spent our last morning relaxing and headed back to London.

An absolutely amazing trip. So incredibly grateful that we spent our holiday in the Maldives.

I hope you get there someday!

Cheers!
Kelley
